About Citadel High Theatre
When Citadel High was planned, the Department of Education's guidelines did not
include an auditorium nor did it have a provision for a second gymnasium. Interested citizens, determined to ensure that Citadel High was properly outfitted, devised a strategy to address these significant deficiencies.

They convinced the province to shell in the auditorium and created a unique partnership with the Halifax Regional Municipality which resulted in a Community Centre, including a second gymnasium.
This left the finishing of the theatre to the community at a cost of $2.2 million; $100,000 is also required for varsity uniforms.
The Theatre will be a multi-functional, 825- seat performance space designed to provide a complete theatrical and performance experience for students. It will also provide a valuable space for public lectures and local dance, theatre and musical productions.
Over $1.77 million of the $2.3 million has been raised.
To raise the remaining $1 million. Each of the 825 seats in the theatre will be sold for $1,000 each.
Businesses, groups or individuals can purchase one or more seats and have their name imprinted on a small plaque affixed to the seat. They can choose to honor a loved one, a company, a group or a cause.
Citadel High Theatre replaces QEH and St. Pat's auditoriums, both of which were used to their capacity over the years. The new Theatre is a critical resource for the community, giving residents access to a modern performance venue for a range of political, cultural and social activities.
Each time a student walks across the stage at graduation, performs in the school play, takes part in orchestra or jazz band concerts in front of admiring parents, or participates in varsity sports, a silent thank you will go to the men and women with foresight who ensured that Citadel High was outfitted with the very best facilities.
